Christian Counseling: You are close to God
Reading the Bible, prayer, going to church, all these things get you closer to God, right? What would it be like to be close to God, right now reading this blog? Maybe you are in the parking lot of Trader Joe's, sitting on your couch, or finishing up at the office.
"But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ."
"For through him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father."
Let's say you brush your teeth at 7:15am, read your bible at 7:30, make a quick breakfast at 8, and out the door for work by 8:20. You are just as close to God brushing your teeth as you are making breakfast. Think of somebody's testimony; usually she would share a difficult time in her life, at some point share that she became a believer in Jesus Christ, and then shared her realization that God was with her during that difficult time, using it to open her eyes to a relationship with Him.
Being close to God because of Jesus, helps your heart know you are close while in the parking lot at Trader Joe's, brushing your teeth in the morning, reading your Bible, or going to church. You cannot get closer to God by your good behavior and sobriety from bad behavior. You are near, Christian.
